Titles of the modules are as follows;

Module 1: Understanding Dyslexia & Different Thinkers

Students explore what it can feel like to have dyslexia, from early challenges to the strengths that come with different ways of thinking. The activity helps build empathy and encourages a supportive classroom environment where all learners can thrive. For teachers, this module highlights the importance of building a culture of understanding and belonging.

Module 2: What are the MIND Strengths

Students dive into the four core dyslexic strengths—Memory, Interconnected Reasoning, Narrative, and Dynamic Reasoning—through interactive activities. These explorations help all students reflect on the different ways they learn. For teachers, the professional development focus is on recognizing differences between their own learning styles and those of their students.

Module 3: Big Picture vs Fine Detail – Understanding Different Patterns of Memory

The discussion of memory in the movie, The Dyslexic Advantage, passes by quickly, but it is important to grasp the implications of differences between big picture and little picture or detailed information processing. This module will have students understand how  patterns of learning correlate with individual brain differences  and how it can help understanding of why types of learning come easier or harder. Understanding how your particular profile can help you leverage your strengths like Dr. Chris Ford did he began changing his learning strategies to study for his very challenging medical exams.

Module 4:  Deeper Dive: Dyslexic Innovators and Explorers

Many dyslexic creatives are mentioned in the movie. This module allows students to learn more about these people, how they found their careers, and the unique contributions they made to the world. Students can choose one to research or create a project that highlights how different ways of thinking contribute to innovation and creativity. For teachers, the professional development note focuses on showing students role models who demonstrate pathways to success.

Module 5: Next Steps — Identity, Pathways, and Advocacy

This exploration turns insight into action. Younger students name what they’re good at and how they want to grow. Relevant elements of positive psychology and growth mindset are incorporated into this module. Older students are scaffold in a way that can help them connect strengths to new interests, mentors, and possible careers they may not have considered. Everyone practices simple advocacy and time-protection skills, so strengths have room to develop. For teachers, the professional development focus is on turning “I understand dyslexia” into “I know how to move forward,” with activities that support a positive mindset and practical classroom application.
