Ambassador: The simplest answer is that an ambassador shares information about the movie to a friend, school, teacher or tutor, or community group. The simplest way to reach out to someone may be printing out a flyer or even sending out an email with our movie website https://dyslexicadvantage.movie.
If you watched the movie and like it, then just share that information with someone else or some group that might find it valuable too. Because nearly 1 in 5 people are dyslexic, who ever you contact will probably find it valuable too. Parent groups and schools are good prospects to screen the movie, but also libraries (most have some community film screenings and some even have literacy tutors) and faith-based groups or community groups like the scouts (there’s a neurodiversity badge).
If you’d like to join or affiliate program, click on the link at the top of this page and enroll. What this does is gives you a coupon you can give to this person or group that gives them 5% off coupon. If they buy a screening, you will also be thanked with 2.5% of the purchase price. We realize that it may take a significant time to reach out to people and this reward is a thank you for your time.
Host: What is a host? A host is a person who makes themselves available before and after a screening. A brief introduction such as “Thank you all for coming today. My name is *** and the topic of dyslexia is very important to me. (you can then say whether you a person with dyslexia or parent of a child with dyslexia, or teacher or tutor of dyslexic students etc.)”.
It can be very valuable having someone with a personal connection to the dyslexia community introduce the wilm.
Afterwards, if you able, you can help direct the discussion. There’s a free discussion guide with possible discussion prompts. The main idea is to suggest some general questions like “What did you think of the movie?” or more specific, “Did the movie change some of your thoughts about dyslexia?”
We hope that some people volunteer to be both ambassadors and hosts. The host program doesn’t have an affiliate program, but some hosts may be able to request a stipend for appearance at the event.
